Jazzin' in January with Andrew Young at uShaka

Cocktails, music and good company,
the one main reason why you would want to go to Ushaka Marine World in the
grand new year of 2014.
On Saturday, 25 January from 1 pm to 4pm, Andrew
Young, a talented international saxophonist and his band will be hitting the
stage for a free, one day only, performance at uShaka Marine World.
This year marks Young’s 2014 Coast to
Coast South African Tour all the way from sunny Durban to Windy Cape Town as
well as the Jazz on the Rocks at Tietiesbaai, performing his show ‘Jazzin’
Around with Andrew Young and the band’. This will allow the audience to see him
perform his unique mixed style of rock and pop which will include much loved
songs such as “Georgia”, “Baker Street”, “Still Got the Blues” and more: A
definite treat for all jazz loving fans. Backing for Andrew Young will be a 5
piece South African band.
Coming all the way from England,
Young was classically trained in both the Clarinet and Saxophone from the
tender age of 8. After completing his Saxophone and Clarinet studies in London,
Young decided to move to Germany, where he chose to chase his desire for a much
broader and more eclectic involvement in all genres of music. Andrew has
performed at quite a few concerts, functions and events, which included
performing for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles at the Royal
Festival Hall, London in 1985.
Stemming back to our African
continent, Young also made his name when he was invited to participate in
Durban with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra. During that time, he also
formed his five piece Jazz/Funk/Fusion band “Let it flow.” Young has also
performed at various music festivals in South Africa that include, The
International Jazz Festival and Jazzathon in Cape Town, the JPL Jazz Festival
in Durban, the Grahamstown National Arts Festival and the Rand Easter Show in
Johannesburg.
Popular artists Andrew Young has
performed with include; Joseph Shabalala from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, as well
as James Galway, Shirley Bassey and American R&B artist Keith Washington.

To this day, Young has managed to
release nine albums and continues to mesmerize audiences from all over the
world with his astounding gifted instrumental creations.
