Digby and The Lullaby visit KZN for more romance, tears and goosebumps…..

Digby and The Lullaby are the indie singer-songwriting duo that’s stirring hearts all over South Africa. Although their musical partnership spans just two years, Rouchelle Hubsch and Darren Digby Peens have already been hailed by their growing collection of fans as a match made in heaven.

On piano and lead vocals, Rouchelle Hubsch plays and sings with a haunting depth of emotion that far surpasses her young age. As an only child, Rouchelle found the piano a profoundly rewarding companion.

On guitar and backing vocals, Darren Peens fell in love with music when he was just 6 years old these days, armed with a Dictaphone a note pad and an acoustic guitar, Darren never stops creating.

Collectively influenced by anyone with tons of heart and a great song, Digby and The Lullaby thrive on intimate performances. The theatre is this band’s first choice of venue. “It makes our connection with the audience so real and tangible,” smiles Rouchelle. Digby and The Lullaby have just finished tracking their debut album in New York with producer Kieran Kelly (Angust and Julia Stone, Sufjan Stevens) they are aiming for an early 2013 release.

Live performances to date include shows at The Chaplin in Port Elizabeth, Googies in New York and the prestigious Hilton Arts Festival in Durban two years running – where extra seating had to be put in after their first performance. Ralph Piaden (the Fleur du Lys’ theatre manager) commented that they were ‘the most complimented act’ in his theatre throughout the festival.

" The joy of hearing these two stays with you long after you leave. After just a few minutes you will be hooked and you will leave wanting more and yet feeling full and sated. Be proufoundly affected in the best possible ways. Miss something else don't miss Digby and the lullaby!! Graham Ward – (Drummer, Paul Mcartney, Tom Jones, Ray Charles)

Goosebumps, standing ovations, and an audience moved to tears are not uncommon at Digby and The Lullaby shows. When you click play, you’ll understand why.

Are you looking to book a speaker for a year end function?  Try Douglas Kruger:

NEED ONE LAST MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH FOR YOUR STAFF BEFORE YEAR-END? TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS OFFER:

My business and inspirational presentations are usually valued at R18 000. For November and December of 2012 only, book me for R15 000.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR YOUR STAFF?
What is the gap between where you are and where you want to be? Allow me to help you with one of these seminars or presentations:

HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF AS AN INDUSTRY EXPERT:
Based on my book, '50 Ways to Position Yourself as an Expert,' this business talk looks at practical, proactive steps you can take to gain visibility and become known as the thought-leader in your industry. Grow your customer-base. Don't be the Pie-Man, selling his wares one by one. Be the guru, and they will come to you. Perfect for Sales teams and entrepreneurs.

HAMSTER-THINKING:
Learn about The Rules of Hamster-Thinking and how they impair our effectiveness. Hamsters make up rules that work against them, do things the way they’ve always been done, and do what all other hamsters would do. Discover how to think more industriously and develop your personal initiative. This motivational presentation is designed to teach your delegates to become greater ‘go-getters.’

THE BIG BUM THEORY:
“Do these jeans make my bum look big?” “No, honey. It’s your big bum that’s doing it.” This humorous keynote pokes fun at the culture of blame and victimhood, and shows how, by inverting it, we can set goals, strive for achievements, and move away from excuses. This presentation is designed to assist delegates with instituting radical disruption of their momentum, and taking ownership of their lives and careers.

IS YOUR THINKING KEEPING YOU POOR?
Entrepreneurs often inherent a curse from previous generations, and they’re not even aware of it: Self-limiting beliefs about wealth, work and income. This presentation changes lives. Douglas has written on the topic for Forbes magazine and been interviewed on it in the media. Packed with epiphanies, it will radically alter how entrepreneurs think about Value, and about generating income.

8 EPIPHANIES EVERY ENTREPRENEUR MUST HAVE:
Why do some entrepreneurs make money hand over fist, while others struggle with the basics? Why are some able to go bankrupt and bounce back again, as though nothing happened? Why do some individuals work back-breakingly hard, but never break even? The difference isn’t ‘hours of work.’ The difference is ‘underlying principles.’ Get them right, and the business comes to you. 8 Epiphanies is a look at the principles behind the scenes; the deeper level understandings you need to have in addition to the nuts ‘n bolts, how-to stuff.

GET YOUR HEAD RIGHT IN TOUGH TIMES:
Still suffering from Recession-Mentality? Acting less because times are tough and you no longer believe they’re buying? This motivational speech is about head-space, and the vortexes that swirl through it in tough times. To survive and prosper, you have to have the right attitude. You have to harness your thinking and make it do what you need it to do. Not what the times dictate.

ALSO AVAILABLE:
Training seminars in Public Speaking and Presenting - How to Engage and Persuade in your Presentations (Full day course). Based on my book '50 Ways to Become a Better Speaker.' I will provide you with all the basics – the nuts ‘n bolts of presenting – but I'll also go well beyond that. Learn how to organize the audience in a room for the best psychological effect. Learn how to connect, engage and persuade. Learn about the 15 different ways in which you can structure your messages. Learn how to create credibility. Most of all, learn to make your target audience think and believe as you do. Ideal for managers, sales teams and anyone who wants to grow their career by mastering this important skill.

WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID:
“Douglas is phenomenal. He has great expertise, is very result oriented, and also knows what it takes for organizations and people to change. His experience in speaking publicly and his Hamster’s approach is so interesting. Douglas’s understanding of processes, in particular - how to make things happen as productively as possible and what needs to be delivered at each stage - has been very valuable to us at the congress.”
-       Alves Duarte, 1st International Congress of Human Resources Convenor, Mozambique

Call for Funding Applications KZN Artists

Call for Funding Applications for the Kwa-Zulu Natal Performing Arts Trust

Formally constituted KZN Performing Arts practioners are invited to apply for funding to the Kwa-Zulu Natal Performing Arts Trust for the new funding cycle ending 31 March 2013.

Based in Durban, the Kwa-Zulu Natal Performing Arts Trust supports, encourages, develops and stimulates all aspects of the performing arts in KZN.  The Trust considers applications in dance, drama, music, musical theatre, opera and performance poetry, with emphasis on assisting those who were previously disadvantaged.

While applications for multi-year undertakings are encouraged, this does not preclude one‑off projects.  Where grants are ongoing over a number of years, acknowledgements of receipt and progress reports must be received for the previous year, before consideration will be given to future funding.  Applications for new funding will be considered only if accompanied by a duly completed application form and all supporting documentation specified therein.

Applications must, wherever possible, also be accompanied by documentation proving that the applicants are tax exempt.  The trust receives support from donors as it operates on extremely low overheads, and the trustees give their services voluntarily.  The trust’s policy is to keep its capital intact, and to distribute only its income.  The trust does not have sufficient funds to meet all the requests it receives for assistance and is always looking for new donors to broaden its scope of support in the performing arts in KZN, and to provide a stronger capital base.  Donations made to the Trust may be claimed as a tax deduction.

Performing arts practioners are invited to write short letters of intent outlining in one page the nature of the project, and the total amount requested.  Letters to be received by 4pm on 13 November 2012.  After an initial screening process, applicants will be sent a formal letter of application to complete and return before the end of January.  Applications will be selected early in February and successful applicants will be notified by 31 March 2013.
