Durban Day: A day out for the whole family.
Durban Tourism and East Coast Radio’s Durban Day in association with the Sunday Times is fast approaching, so be sure to get your tickets soon! This family day out at Moses Mabhida’s Peoples Park on Sunday 9 September will see a host of South Africa’s top bands taking to the stage. Concert goers will be allowed to bring along picnic baskets with food, chairs and blankets. All beverages and a wide variety of food will also be on sale.
This year’s line-up should have wide appeal offering genres like Jazz, Pop, Rock and everything in between. Platform Jazz will ease concert goers into the day, while Idols fans should be delighted to hear that the show’s big names will also make an appearance. The one-man sonic showdown of Yoav is also sure to heat things up. After recently bursting onto the music scene with the release of her debut and follow-up singles, local KZN songstress Toya Delazy will also wow crowds.
Another big name at the concert will be Johnny Clegg whose career spans more than 30 years. With a loyal following it’s no wonder he’s one of South Africa’s most prolific musicians. The rich and silky sound of LIRA will no doubt also captivate the audience. GoodLuck have been on the South African music scene for about two years and bring with them a unique electro swing sound. The hugely popular Parlotones will round off the day’s line-up.
Durban Day is a chance for the whole family to revel in good music in a relaxed setting.
Aside from the on stage entertainment, there will be a secure Kids Zone to keep little ones entertained. The area will offer face painting, balloon sculpting and inflatables.
Tickets are available through Computicket at the cost of R100 each. Children under 12 years of age enter for free. For more information please visit www.ecr.co.za.
