Conversations with #Actors - Presley Chweneyagae

Welcome Dear Readers to another in a feature on various Actors I met
at DIFF2012 (Durban International Film Festival.)

This week we feature an interview with world famous actor Presley Chweneyagae.
We managed to sit down with him for a few minutes and this is what he had to say
on acting.

What does an Actor do? 

It is all about discipline, discipline, discipline

What was Tsotsi like and the whole Oscar vibe?

It was great, I was 18 years old and in University when we started with Tsotsi

Describe Gavin Hood's Directing Style?

He is a passionate director.  We stay friends to this day.  I have great respect for him
and he has great respect for me.

Do you use the Method?

I am excited by Stanislavski.

Tell us about Zama Zama

It was a different experience when we went underground.  This is a ensemble piece.  
Ensemble work is always greater.

What do you think of DIFF?

It is a brilliant platform.  It is a great place to sell your work.

How do you get work? 

Go to auditions.  Send your videos overseas.

Do you have a agent?

Yes,  Moonyeenn Lee.

Where is home for Presley? 

Home is Mafikeng but currently I live in Pretoria.

What do you do to relax?

Spend time with the family.

How do you work with a Director?

All starts with Truth.  Keep each other happy.  Motivate each other.  Keep each
other on the ground.

What is next for you?  

Have a new project coming up, a new film.

Tips for Aspiring Actors?

Look for your own role models from your own community.

How do you look at a script?

Look at it from different angles.

What is your favourite motivational quote?

Love the art in yourself not yourself in the art.

What is the difference in acting between theatre and film?

Not that much.  In theatre you have to show more expressions, You have
to project your voice.  

Presley stars in the movie Zama Zama which had it's world premiere
at DIFF 2012.
