iLembe will be presented in association between The Playhouse Company and the Sibikwa Arts Centre.  Auditions will be held from 7-12 October 2013, from 09:30 am to 16:30 pm. “iLembe” will be staged at the Playhouse in April - May 2014 as part of The Playhouse Company’s New Stages season. iLembe is a potent drama depicting  the last few months of the reign of King Shaka before his death.

The Directors seek to audition male dancers between the ages of 20 -30 years who can sing and have training in contemporary and African dance. The Dancers are required to prepare a short dance piece and a song. The Directors are looking for three women who have some storytelling experience and are above 35 years old to sing and play traditional South African bow instruments.  To read more click here

Time to send in your proposals for the Musho Festival 2012

MUSHO FESTIVAL 2012:   get your proposals in now ! 


PANSA KZN will be hosting the third Musho International Theatre Festival from 11-15 January 2012 in DurbanThe festival is dedicated to these small works and the celebration of the skill of the solo or duo performe
We are calling for proposals for the 2012 Festival (see details below).  Proposals must be received by 15 September 2011, and are then looked at by a selection committee of local theatre professionals, for selection to appear at Musho!
 Selection criteria for the festival include:

·      The work must have one or two persons only performing
·      The work should be an innovative and interesting concept
·      The work should have potential appeal for local audiences
·      The work should be classifiable as theatre (with a discernable narrative)
·      The company or individual should have a good track-record and reputation
·      The work should not have played in Durban in the past
·      The work should be 50-70 minutes in length

Participants are paid for their participation in the festival.  The amount paid per performance will be confirmed at a later date, and is subject to the funding that PANSA receives. 

Contracts will be drawn up between the artists and the festival once selection and confirmation procedures have been concluded, in October 2011.

Audition Actor Urgently Needed In Durban


AUDITION NOTIFICATION:

KickstArt, Durban’s top theatre company, are looking for new talent to be showcased in the lavish Festive Season pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs taking place at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from 6 December-9 January.

The company is looking for a multi-talented black male actor to play the role of Zanzibar Jack, a charming reformed pirate, and the handsome Prince Valiant’s comic sidekick.

Actors should be aged between 20 and 35 years, be able to sing, dance and act, speak excellent English, and handle a Jamaican accent. Previous professional stage experience is an added advantage.

The auditions will be held at the Playhouse Company’s Mayville studios in Ramsay Ave at 10.30am on Thurs 1 September. Applicants should arrive from 10am to register. No application will be accepted after 10.30am.

Actors should prepare a short, light hearted piece of prose or monologue (NOT improvised, and not longer than 1minute!) with a Jamaican accent, and bring an up- tempo song to sing that demonstrates range and skill, with backing track (preferable) or sheet music.

Wear comfortable clothes with trainers/takkies, and be prepared to dance. No slops or bare feet.

Rehearsals will take place from 7 November, afternoons and evenings, and applicants should be wholly available during this period.

The pantomime will be directed by Steven Stead, designed by Greg King, and stars Peter Court, Bryan Hiles, Lyle Buxton, Georgina Mabbett and Belinda Henwood
