Jockey Elevating Everyday Underwear

By Fred Felton | Feb. 4, 2026

For almost 150 years, Jockey has helped define what quality, comfort and innovation mean in the manufacturing of underwear.  Jockey South Africa has now also launched the Sports Mesh range, a product shaped by fabric engineering advancements, performance technology and precision in manufacturing. Jockey has long understood that leadership is not defined by reacting to trends, but by anticipating them.

Today sees the convergence between activewear and daily clothing, driven by consumers who expect comfort, breathability and something that will last. Underwear is now seen as a garment expected to support movement, regulate temperature and deliver comfort. As a result Jockey has speeded up their investment in advanced fabric development, moisture-management systems and innovations in manufacturing which paved the way for Sports Mesh.

‘’At Jockey, innovation doesn’t start with trends it starts with how garments are made. Our focus has always been on manufacturing excellence, because that’s where real comfort and performance are created. Sports Mesh reflects years of investment in fabric development testing, and construction, and displays how we continue to evolve everyday essentials through meaningful, technical progress,’’ said Rob Hogg, National Sales Manager at Jockey South Africa.

The next-generation mesh fabric has been engineered to be lightweight and deliver an instantly cooling, icy hand feel. This is in line with industry trends moving towards materials that actively regulate the body. The mesh design maintains softness, elasticity, and structural integrity, while meeting the demands of an active lifestyle.

The sports mesh design also supports consistent body temperature in changing conditions. The underwear range also helps to maintain dryness, keep body temperature stable, and deliver comfort all day long.

‘’Consumers today expect more from their everyday underwear,’’ added Hogg.

Sports Mesh also integrates antimicrobial protection right into the fabric, stopping the growth of odour-causing microorganisms, while supporting hypoallergenic comfort.

The sports mesh design also eliminates side and back seams, helps reduce chafing and assists with freedom of movement and comfort.

This underwear range is available in Long Leg, Short Leg and Boxer brief silhouettes; the Sports Mesh range has colour options of Black and Midnight Navy with sizes from S to 2XL.

They certainly look and feel great and have a wonderful fit for those that have busy lifestyles.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner this might just be the perfect gift for that someone special in your life.

‘’Bringing U-Pouch production home is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of. This move allows us to support local talent, strengthen our manufacturing capabilities, and deliver world-class underwear at a price that stays within reach for South Africans,’’ said Rob Hogg, National Sales Manager at Jockey South Africa.

Engineered for Comfort

The U-Pouch range has been improved for superior fit and everyday comfort. The design provides targeted support, lift, and stability – reducing friction and offering a natural, secure feel for the whole day.

The range is made from a breathable blend of 47% cotton, 47% viscose, and 6% elastane, so you get the best of both worlds combining cotton’s natural softness and airflow with viscose’s smooth, moisture-absorbing comfort. Finished with elastane for flexible stretch, the trunks move effortlessly with the body for all-day ease.

With the short-leg cut you get a clean, modern silhouette that stays in place, while the soft elastic waistband ensures comfort from the morning to the night. The range is available in Small to 2XL and caters to the needs of today’s active, style-conscious South African man.

Premium Quality, Accessible Price

Jockey has been able to reduce the selling price of this product thanks to the local production; this makes it attainable for more South Africans. The trunks come in a 2-pack value format, for even more everyday affordability.

Local Manufacturing Wins

Jockey has a long-term commitment to grow its South African production footprint and elevate local textile expertise. Each pair sold is a celebration of what local manufacturing can achieve – world class quality, proudly made at home.

New Year New Fashion

By Fred Felton | Dec. 28, 2024

With the New Year just around the corner here are some fashion tips to get 2025 off on the right start for your fashion wardrobe.

For Him and Her

Building on the success of the partnership between ASICS and Kiko Kostadinov Studio, they will be resuming their curatorial series for Spring/Summer 2024. Look out for the UB10-S GEL-KAYANO™ 20 sneaker which draws inspiration from the themes of Interlaced Assemblages, Functional Utopias, and Mino Ceramics.

The shoe features soft textures which are combined with the idea of handcrafted elements found in iconic artwork. The sneaker has a matte and washed colour appearance, which enhances the heritage running shoe’s archival shape and build. Contrasted with grid-like patterns and bold opaque colours, the Functional Utopia inspired variations apply direct correlations with nature.

The glossy primary colourways are offset with metallic structures that accentuate the double-layer mesh materialization.

The designers have also explored Mino ceramic influences by looking at the contemporary processes of the rust-like qualities that appear in Mino glazes. This process looks to imagery as a vessel with degraded colours that have the ability to stand the test of time.

The new UB10-S GEL-KAYANO™ 20 are available in a variety of colours which include Hunter Green/Jade and Glacier Grey/Lavender Grey and you can get them at Shelflife, Lemkus, Archive and Sneaker District and online at BASH.com
