Bake something special for that someone special

Bake some Madeleines for your loved one. | Image: Supplied

Everyone loves a home cooked meal. So why not surprise your loved one or bestie with a delicious meal. Here is a great recipe for Madeleines courtesy of award-winning TV chef, cookbook author and dessert diva Grace Stevens:

Ingredients

·         2 eggs (100g)

·         100 g caster sugar

·         100 g flour (extra for dusting tin)

·         40ml lemon juice

·         Zest of one lemon

·         3ml baking powder

·         100g melted butter (cooled slightly)

1.       Grease a Madeleine tray and dust with flour. Tap off excess flour and set aside. You may freeze the tray for a larger ‘pearl’

2.       Whisk eggs and sugar until light and airy.

3.       Fold in remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for 60 minutes or overnight.

4.       Preheat oven to 200C. Fill each shell three quarters of the way with cool batter.

5.       Bake for 5 to 8 minutes or until a tester comes out clean. There could be a small rise in the centre. This is called the ‘’pearl’’.

6.       Allow to cool slightly before removing from the tray and dusting with icing sugar.

7.       Best enjoyed fresh out the oven within the hour.

Join Cadbury in Giving the Gift of Childhood to Orphaned and Vulnerable Children Across SA

The spirit of generosity is alive and well in South Africa. It’s evident in the many selfless acts of kindness, large and small, that we witness people doing on a daily basis. This is the kind of generosity that Cadbury Dairy Milk would like to shine a light on; the need for connection, the spark to lift others up. Now, more than ever, we have the chance to bring about positive change. This time, by giving our most vulnerable – our children – the precious gift of childhood.

Last year, this boundless generosity shone through as South Africans donated over 100 000 pre-loved toys, books and games to orphaned and vulnerable children via the Cadbury Dairy Milk ‘The Little Generosity Shop’ and ‘GenerosiTrees’ activations. At a time when this generous nature is truly needed, Cadbury Dairy Milk is once again calling on all South Africans to join forces to support orphaned and vulnerable children by facilitating their right to play.

For a limited time, when you purchase one of five 80g or 150g Cadbury Dairy Milk variants, wrapped in special edition sleeves, you will help give the precious gift of childhood by contributing towards R1-million worth of educational toys, books and games, to orphaned and vulnerable children across South Africa.

‘’Generosity is at the core of everything we do, as Cadbury Dairy Milk believes that ‘There’s a glass & a half in everyone’.  At a time when inspiring goodness is key, we want to offer South Africans an opportunity to help enrich the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children across our country,’’ says  Lara Sidersky, Mondelez SA Category Lead for Chocolate.

SOS Children’s Village will, again, be one of several beneficiaries that Cadbury Dairy Milk is partnering with for this initiative. This independent, non-governmental organisation offers family-like care for children and young people who have lost, or are at risk of losing, parental care.

Look out for participating Cadbury Dairy Milk variants, in both 80g and 150g, including Milk Chocolate, Top Deck, Mint Crisp, Whole Nut and Fruit & Nut. . Available while stocks last.

Cadbury's New Limited Edition Festive Range

Last week I received a lovely surprise from Cadbury’s. They sent me a delicious parcel full of their tasty new limited edition festive range.

There are three holiday treats available, Festive Whisper (Cadbury Dairy Milk slab with malted Honeycomb Whispers); Frosty Glee (Cadbury Dream slab with red jellies and green Astros) and Whispers Snowball (Cadbury Dream Coated Malted Honeycomb Bites).

My favourite were the Whispers Snowball. They really are tasty.  Perfect to Share the Joy.
They are great stocking fillers or you could serve them on a festive platter or even give your special friend that something special.

Great for Christmas Time or even New Year’s Parties.

What I like about them is they also have a label on the treat so you can write down the name of that special someone. No need for labels.

The limited edition range is available at all major retailers nationwide.

For more info go to CadburyDairyMilkSA on Facebook and Cadbury_SA on Twitter
